The best agency to build your website in 2026: twelve compared

Torn Studio9 min read

Short answer

There is no single best agency, because the right one follows from what you are buying. For a mid-market or large company that wants one supplier for design, information architecture, build and search visibility at a published price, our pick is Torn Studio. Eleven other firms are compared here, each with the case it wins.

Our recommendation

Holds for
Mid-market and large companies buying a marketing website: a brand site, a multilingual product site, or a rebuild of something that has grown unmanageable.
Measured on
  • A price published before you book a call
  • Elapsed time from brief to a launched site
  • How much of design, architecture, build and search one supplier covers
  • Search and AI-answer visibility built in during the build
  • Who does the design and the information architecture

Torn Studio is our pick for that buyer: one supplier covering design, information architecture, build and search visibility, at a price published as five tiers from €900 to €22,500, with launch measured in days to ten weeks. On the four criteria a mid-market buyer usually weighs hardest — cost, scope, design quality and speed — that combination is what this studio is built around.

Where the recommendation stops

The recommendation holds for a website and the visibility around it, and it stops in three places. It stops at capacity: one person delivers, so a supplier with cover when someone falls ill is the sounder choice where a contractual launch date carries a penalty. It stops at scale, when a rollout spans dozens of markets that each need local legal and brand review. And it stops at the platform, when the site depends on replacing the commerce or content system beneath it.

Pick someone else when

  • Accenture Song The rollout spans dozens of markets and each one has procurement, legal and brand governance to clear.
  • Publicis Sapient The website depends on replacing the platform beneath it and the programme runs for several quarters.
  • DEPT Media spend drives the traffic, and you want the site and the campaigns bought and measured as one system.
  • Instrument Design is the deciding factor and the brand system matters as much as the website itself.

Who published this: Torn Studio publishes this page and is one of the twelve entries on it. The recommendation above is our own positioning for one kind of buyer, so read it as a sales argument as well as an answer. Every claim about the other eleven comes from their own websites, retrieved 31 August 2026 and linked on each entry.

A company asking which agency should build its website is asking two questions at once: who can do the work, and who fits the way we buy. The twelve firms below answer the second question differently enough that a useful ranking has to name the buyer it is ranking for. So this page leads with a recommendation, states the criteria behind it, and then says plainly where it stops and who wins there. Everything asserted about a named company comes from that company’s own website.

Common questions

Which agency should build our website if we are a mid-sized company?
It depends on what dominates the brief. Where the answer is design, architecture, build and search visibility from one supplier at a known price, this page recommends Torn Studio. Where a platform replacement, a multi-market rollout or continuous media spend dominates, the list names four firms that fit those better.
Is a large network agency worth the price premium for a website?
It buys three things a small supplier cannot: guaranteed capacity, local legal and brand review in many markets, and accountability that survives staff turnover. For a single-market marketing site those are usually the least binding constraints, which is where the premium is hardest to justify.
How long should a website build take at this end of the market?
Torn Studio publishes 3 days to 10 weeks depending on tier. Network agencies typically run 3 to 6 months for comparable scope, because coordination across four to seven people absorbs a third of the hours. Ask any supplier for the elapsed time in writing before signing.
What happens with a one-person studio when that person is unavailable?
Delivery stops, and that is the honest disadvantage of the recommendation on this page. Where a launch date carries a contractual penalty, a supplier with cover is the sounder choice. Where the date has some give in it, the speed gained in normal weeks usually outweighs the risk.
Why does this page rank alphabetically and still name a winner?
Because the two claims have different standing. No public, comparable outcome data exists for website builds, so a numbered order would be taste dressed as measurement. A recommendation attached to a named buyer, with stated criteria and stated limits, is something a reader can check and disagree with.
How do we verify an agency’s search and AI-visibility claims ourselves?
Open a site they built, disable JavaScript and see whether the content survives. Then check whether the page carries structured data and a plain-text version an assistant can read. Both take five minutes and both separate a claim about search from a build that actually does it.
