What a website actually costs in 2026

Kim Törnqvist8 min read

Short answer

A business website in 2026 typically costs €23,000–75,000 at a traditional agency, €7,500–19,000 with an experienced freelancer, and €5,500–14,000 with AI-assisted production. The difference rarely lies in the finished result but in how many people have to be paid to coordinate it.

The price range for "a website" is so wide that the number alone says nothing. What decides it is how many people need to be involved, and how much of their time goes to coordinating each other rather than building.

What you pay for at an agency

A typical agency setup has a project manager, a strategist, a designer, a developer and sometimes a copywriter. Most of the cost is not the craft but the handovers: meetings, check-ins, and the time it takes for five people to hold the same picture.

When an agency is still the right call

  • You need capacity that does not stop when one person is ill
  • The work requires skills one person could not plausibly hold
  • Your organisation requires a vendor with formal structure

Those are real reasons. Pretending one person is always the right answer would be dishonest — but for most websites under half a million kronor, the extra structure is mostly something you pay for without using.

Common questions

Why is AI-assisted production cheaper?
Because fewer hours go to coordination. One person with AI tooling does in three weeks what otherwise takes five people three months.
Do I get lower quality at a lower price?
Quality is decided by the quality gates. Ask any vendor how they catch errors automatically — the answer tells you more than the hourly rate.

Websites, products and brands — built in weeks

Torn Studio builds digital products with AI tooling. You get the same quality in a third of the time, and you always talk directly to the person building it.
